Managing Director, Ericsson Global Services India

MBA, Berhampore University | Executive Program, Columbia Business School

Amitabh has been fortunate to have taken part in India’s IT revolution from its very beginning and playing leading roles in the transformation journeys of three global enterprises – PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), IBM and Ericsson. As partner of PwC in the nineties, he established the SAP practice of the consulting firm which was the beginning of the transformation of PwC from a global audit firm to an IT services and consulting organization. Over a period of time PwC emerged as a strong IT advisory and services organization competing with Indian and global players in this space.

In the early part of this century, in 2002, the consulting practice of PwC was taken over by IBM along with some of its consulting staff. As vice-president of IBM, his key responsibilities were managing the growth of the delivery centers across the world.

His colleagues and himself were instrumental, in creating the services business of IBM which eventually led to the transformation of IBM from primarily a hardware company to a global services organization.

A new chapter in the transformation journey started from 2010 when Amitabh joined Ericsson’s Global Services India, which was a new business from Ericsson to create ICT services that marked the 140-year-old telecom company’s foray into services from being a pure play telecom equipment company. Today Ericsson is recognized by their clients as a valued services partner in their own transformation initiatives.

Currently, as Managing Director Ericsson Global Services India and Head of Global Services Center India, Amitabh is managing operations in the areas of R&D, product development, pre-sales & sales support, services delivery and a number of global shared support functions. Global Services India operation represents an ICT operation working towards more than 130 countries.Prior to this he worked as the head of Strategy & Portfolio function of Ericsson’s Global Services Business unit.
